Lady Hefin

It was a cold bitter night. The wind howling through the valley which was cold enough to cut the skin. The valley is called The Four Gods. Why it was named this no one seems to remember anymore except for an old fortune teller who has gone mad. The Valley itself is a forest of trees along with some fields and a stream. The houses in the trees which help stay out of the way of the wild animals.

Most people avoided going down to the ground, except to hunt or make their wishes. People would seal their wishes into small boats, which they would send down the stream, hoping they would be received by the ones who could answer them. But this old tradition has been nearly abandoned due to the sudden appearance of horrible creatures which have caused many deaths in the valley. Only those who dare to risk death leave the safety of the trees.

Mumblings could be heard throughout the village, it was nothing new but it never bode well for everyone else when it happens. It meant a prophesy would be made and not always good. A soft howl rang through the valley and a little girl in her bed felt death.

The young girl slowly got out of her bed and moved calmly out of her room. Her parents, still fast asleep, completely unaware of what was coming. As the young girl moved towards the door of the house, almost in a trance-like state, the howling began to get louder. The winds blowing through the trees became faster and harder, carrying other strange sounds with them. Something was coming, and it was coming fast.

Fate began when the little girl came face to face with a boy with wild black hair, with only a loincloth to cover himself. The girl, shocked, stared at the boy whose mind was racing to find what to do. He had been through this village many times but none of them had he met someone outside his race. He was not human but a werewolf, when the moon is high and full he changed shape from a wolf to human in shape.

The young boy stared at the girl, looking her over. He did not speak a word to her. He bent in closer and began smelling her. The young girl terrified, closed her eyes and leaned back, terrified at the thought of what this boy may do to her. She'd heard stories from her parents of how he would take young girls from their homes and they were never seen again. Slowly, she opened her eyes, staring at the sky. She was trying to catch a glimpse of the moon.

The boy's ears twitched as he heard something that the girl didn't. Before she could react he grabbed her arm, pulling her close before kissing her. It happened so quickly that before she realized it he was gone. Was it only a dream after all that she met such a creature?

The girl stood there speechless. Why hadn't he taken her? In the stories he always captured the girls he met. She moved forward, placing her hands on a banister, trying to see where he had gone. Her father appeared in the entranceway, rubbing one of his eyes in an attempt to wake himself up. "What are you doing out here? Your mother and I were worried when we didn't find you in your bed. This isn't the night that young girls should be wandering out of their rooms."

"Sorry papa, I thought i heard something..." The girl said before walking obediently back inside. It wasn't until she was back on her bed did she realize he had stolen her first kiss.

As the girl restlessly tried to calm herself back to sleep, she was unaware of what remained outside. The young boy had disappeared into the forest, but remained within the village's boarders. He silently kept watch over the house, keeping an ear open to the winds. Hearing something, he crouched down to the ground, ready to pounce. Looking towards the other side of the village, another creature was waiting, hidden within the bushes, eyes fixed on the same house.

The boy was quick and merciless as he killed the other creature. His teeth ripping out it's throat, blood spraying all over his muscled torso.

With the creature killed, he went back to his post. Watching the house carefully, as if he were protecting it. The girl by now had somehow managed to fall back asleep, but her night was restless as dreams of creatures coming for her and other horrible images filled her dreams.
